METAIRIE Andrus Peat Jersey 2019 , La. (AP) — Saints coach Sean Payton says Teddy Bridgewater will start New Orleans’ regular-season finale Sunday against Carolina. The decision announced Friday afternoon allows starter Drew Brees to rest for playoffs with the Saints already having wrapped up the top seed in the NFC.Bridgewater has appeared in just four games this season and has thrown only one pass, which was incomplete. Now the former first-round draft choice by Minnesota is set to assume his first prominent role in a regular-season game since 2015. A major knee injury has sidelined Bridgewater nearly all of the last two seasons.Payton says Bridgewater has “looked sharp all week,” and has made some “pretty special” throws during practices this season.Payton hasn’t gone into detail about other playing-time decisions Sunday. But the Saints have ruled out offensive linemen Terron Armstead (chest), Larry Warford (knee) and Jermon Bushrod (hamstring) on Friday’s injury report.Saints rank 3rd in ESPN’s NFL Future Power Rankings It’s almost crazy how much the New Orleans Saints are getting love after a rather successful 2017 campaign. Of course, it wasn’t just one season that went into a big rebuild that stretched across three straight 7-9 seasons from 2014-2016. However, last season’s draft class hit in a major way Womens Tyeler Davison 2019 Jersey , and was a big reason why the black and gold were able to get back into the postseason and win the NFC South.Recently, a panel of three ESPN analysts (Louis Riddick, Field Yates, and Mike Sando) projected which NFL franchises were in the best shape for the next three years. The metrics included the team’s roster (which excluded quarterback), quarterback, draft White P.J. Williams Jersey , front office, and coaching. New Orleans came in third. You can view the original article here, which requires ESPN Insider.ESPNObviously, the front office rating wasn’t favorable, but some major progress has been made to help shape the Saints roster. Hitting on nearly all of their 2017 draft picks, with major contributions from Alvin Kamara P.J. Williams Jersey 2019 , Marshon Lattimore, Ryan Ramczyk, and Marcus Williams made believers out of many. However, going back to the year before, the class of Sheldon Rankins, Michael Thomas New Orleans Saints Tommylee Lewis Jersey , Vonn Bell, and David Onyemata can’t be ignored either. Drew Brees is arguably the most important cog in the wheel here for New Orleans. One side note, it’s also interesting to see that ESPN Staff Writer Dan Graziano threw out a prediction of Brees retiring after the 2018 season several days ago. As long as Brees continues performing at a high level, he should be fine. Now is the time for the Saints to make a deep postseason run.

How did the Cowboys’ draft stack up against their division foes?"WhiteFanposts Fanshots Sections Dallas Cowboys NewsDallas Cowboys 2019 DraftFinal NFC East draft grades: Who is on top?New Dallas Cowboys Jamize Olawale Jersey ,212commentsHow did the Cowboys’ draft stack up against their division foes?CDTShareTweetShareShareFinal NFC East draft grades: Who is on top?Douglas DeFelice-USA TODAY SportsThe 2019 NFL draft seemingly took forever to get here, and then it flew by in an instant. The first round featured a lot of surprises that included all three of the Cowboys’ divisional rivals trading up, while the Cowboys traded down later in the draft to acquire two more picks. In the end, the Cowboys ended up with a draft class that deviated a lot from what many thought would happen, but the group of players still looks fairly impressive. But how did they actually grade out, and how did the rest of the NFC East? We’ll break that down. New York GiantsPicks: 6th overall: Daniel Jones, QB - Duke17th overall (from CLE): Dexter Lawrence, DT - Clemson30th overall (from SEA): DeAndre Baker, CB - Georgia95th overall (from CLE): Oshane Ximines, EDGE - Old Dominion108th overall: Julian Love, CB - Notre Dame143rd overall: Ryan Connelly, LB - Wisconsin171st overall: Darius Slayton, WR - Auburn180th overall: Corey Ballentine, CB - Washburn232nd overall (from MIN): George Asafo-Adjei, OT - Kentucky245th overall (from LAR): Chris Slayton, DT - SyracuseThe Giants made themselves the laughing stock of the NFL on Thursday night (right alongside the Raiders) by drafting Daniel Jones at sixth overall. Their other two first-round picks were talented players, but there are questions over whether or not there were better players available. Fortunately for Giants fans, the rest of the draft turned out pretty well. Oshane Ximines is a talented pass rusher and Darius Slayton is a physically gifted receiver who was misused at Auburn. They also added two vastly underrated cornerbacks in Julian Love and Corey Ballentine. If not for a lackluster first round, the Giants’ draft grade would be a lot higher. But hey, that’s what happens when you spend a top ten draft pick on an average quarterback that you don’t even plan on playing right away. Grade: D+Washington RedskinsPicks: 15th overall: Dwayne Haskins, QB - Ohio State26th overall (from IND): Montez Sweat, EDGE - Mississippi State76th overall: Terry McLaurin, WR - Ohio State112th overall (from BUF): Bryce Love, RB - Stanford131st overall (from BUF): Wes Martin, OG - Indiana153rd overall: Ross Pierschbacher, OC - Alabama173rd overall: Cole Holcomb, LB - North Carolina206th overall: Kelvin Harmon, WR - NC State227th overall: Jimmy Moreland, CB - James Madison253rd overall: Jordan Brailford, EDGE - Oklahoma StatePerhaps the biggest surprise of the entire draft was that the Redskins had one of the best drafts around the league. After reports that they were trying to trade up for a quarterback, Washington held firm at 15 and still got who I graded as the best quarterback in the draft with Dwayne Haskins. Then they got Montez Sweat who, if his heart condition turns out to be not that serious, will be a thorn in offensive linemen’s sides for years to come. Adding Haskins’ college receiver, Terry McLaurin Womens Jamize Olawale 2019 Jersey , in the third round was a very good move too. McLaurin has been compared to Stefon Diggs, and his chemistry with Haskins will help both of them adjust quicker to the NFL. I’m not sure what Bryce Love’s durability will be like coming off an ACL tear, but he can pair nicely with Derrius Guice and Chris Thompson in the backfield. Wes Martin and Ross Pierschbacher are two offensive linemen with potential to grow into quality starters with time, and getting Kelvin Harmon - graded as my sixth best receiver in the draft - at 206th overall is great value. It seems strange to say, but the Redskins had a really good draft. It’s too early to tell how Haskins and the rest of their quarterback situation will pan out, but Washington at least has secured some really good, young foundation pieces for the future.Grade: A-Philadelphia EaglesPicks: 22nd overall (from BAL): Andre Dillard, OT - Washington State53rd overall (from BAL): Miles Sanders, RB - Penn State57th overall: JJ Arcega-Whiteside, WR - Stanford138th overall: Shareef Miller, EDGE - Penn State167th overall: Clayton Thorson, QB - NorthwesternThe Eagles came into the draft with arguably the most complete roster in the division, with their biggest challenge in 2018 being all the injuries they sustained. Still, their biggest needs were on defense, so it’s puzzling that Philadelphia only spent one draft pick on that side of the ball in a developmental edge rusher. That said, the offensive players they did draft are pretty good. Andre Dillard won’t start right away but he’ll replace Jason Peters shortly and should do a great job of that, while Miles Sanders is a dynamic running back to share snaps with Jordan Howard. JJ Arcega-Whiteside is a physically dominant pass catcher who can win almost any 50/50 ball thrown his way. Clayton Thorson looks to be the primary backup quarterback now, but with Carson Wentz’s injury history, I’d be hoping for a better backup plan than that if I were an Eagles fan. The Eagles sent a message with this draft that they’re all in on Wentz after an offseason filled with fairly ludicrous takes about whether they should move on from their former second overall pick. Philadelphia fortified their skill positions for Wentz while also investing in his long-term security, but their lack of defensive improvement is concerning. Grade: B-Dallas CowboysPicks: 58th overall: Trysten Hill, DT - UCF90th overall: Connor McGovern, OG - Penn State128th overall: Tony Pollard, RB - Memphis158th overall (from BUF): Michael Jackson, CB - Miami165th overall: Joe Jackson, EDGE - Miami213th overall: Donovan Wilson, S - Texas A&M218th overall (from CIN): Mike Weber, RB - Ohio State241st overall (from OAK): Jalen Jelks, EDGE - OregonThe Cowboys entered the draft with six picks and left with eight, and got some high value players in the later rounds. Many fans and analysts felt that Trysten Hill at 58th overall was bad value, but Rod Marinelli reportedly coveted Hill and he can thrive as an athletic 3-technique that Dallas has lacked for a while. The McGovern pick was a true surprise, but investing in the offensive line is never a bad thing. Tony Pollard is another pick that was panned for its value, but Pollard is an exciting athlete who can score as a runner, receiver, or kick returner. Michael Jackson fits the Kris Richard prototype to a tee Cheap Jamize Olawale Youth Jersey , and Dallas found some underrated edge rushers in Joe Jackson and Jalen Jelks. It was a bit surprising to see them take a second running back, but Mike Weber fits the mold of a traditional running back, whereas Pollard is more of a utility player. Safety Donovan Wilson stands as the biggest question mark, both because he was a relatively unknown name and because Dallas could have had any of the draft’s top safeties at 58 instead. Maybe they just really like George Iloka, though. It seems as if Dallas really did draft solely on best player available based on their internal grades regardless of roster needs. Here’s hoping they were right in their player assessments. Grade: C+ It is a bold strategy, Cotton. The Dallas Cowboys have, by all indications, decided to promote Kellen Moore to the offensive coordinator position after amassing an impressive r茅sum茅 of (checks notes) six seasons in the NFL as a backup quarterback with a whole three games of playing experience, followed by an entire year as a quarterbacks coach, working under the man he is replacing. If this blows up for Dallas, there aren’t going to be enough fingers in the Metroplex to handle all the resulting pointing. When the rumors first surfaced that the Cowboys (meaning Jerry Jones, Stephen Jones, and Jason Garrett) were leaning towards replacing Scott Linehan from within, and that the leading candidate was the very young and inexperienced Moore, there was a lot of dismay in social and traditional media. But now that it is creeping slowly toward being a done deal, the mood seems to have changed. While there are still many who expect for this to not work at all, a lot of people, including many who have built some real credibility reporting about this team, are seeing some possible upside. (I am of that opinion myself, while leaving my credibility for you to judge.) Some of that may spring from the intense disfavor Linehan fell into over the past year or so. But there is also a belief that the team was sorely in need of a different approach to the offense, particularly the play calling. In a league where the top four scoring offenses made it to the conference championships, the Cowboys certainly looked out of date and out of step. While Dallas still faces having Garrett in overall charge of the offense (perhaps even more directly involved than he has been the past few seasons), getting some minds involved that may be more open to things like increased pre-snap motion and not bunching up the formation in short yardage situation may be sufficient. That adds Doug Nussmeier and new addition Jon Kitna to the equation, with indications already coming that the OC job is going to have a more collaborative nature. There is something else that is a cause for optimism, and it goes beyond the world of football. In the world of management and productivity, there is a thing called the Hawthorne effect. It is based on a study done way back in the 1920s and 30s in a factory located in the Hawthorne Works, an electrical manufacturing facility near Chicago. In the study, management told the workers they were going to make changes in the levels of lighting to try and see what would increase productivity, and then record the results. An interesting thing happened. The changes did increase production. All of them. No matter what they were. Use brighter lights, production increased. Turn the lights down, ditto. Even when the lighting was reduced to the bare minimum for the workers to safely do their jobs, they still kept doing more and more. The theory is that the very act of being observed led the workers to put more effort into what they do. It was the motivation of the workers who responded positively to the scrutiny that really mattered. The NFL, and the Cowboys in particular, are observed by millions every time a game is played. The local and national media then dissect their performance to the smallest detail. The players themselves are generally highly motivated and very proud individuals with remarkable skills and talent. Now Dallas has undertaken a coaching experiment White Randy White Jersey , if you will, that is being covered extensively and followed by countless fans. Need proof? You are reading this, aren’t you?So the very fact a change occurred that many have been hoping for and insisting had to happen has set the stage, and that in itself may spur an improved performance. Perhaps significantly improved.Fortunately, there is some substance to the change as well. Moore has long had a reputation among his teammates, fellow coaches, and many reporters for having an outstanding offensive coaching mind, even long before he left the playing field for the sidelines. He has even been credited by one of the best of his teammates, All Pro center Travis Frederick, for designing a very successful play long before he became a coach. He played at Boise State, where he set the FBS record for wins as a quarterback in their high-powered offense, so he knows some of those college concepts that are also the rage in the NFL today. And the addition of Kitna reaches even deeper in looking for innovative ideas to add to the mix. Kitna was a successful high school coach, and high school football, particularly in the white-hot environment of Texas where he spent several years, is a true breeding ground for innovation, as David Helman noted in an article on Kitna at So even though Garrett will still be the head coach and have a huge level of input and influence on what the team does, the chance for real and meaningful change is suddenly significant. And Garrett has shown in his career that he can employ an effective, high-scoring passing attack. It was not the path the team took in recent years, and it is certainly a valid argument that Linehan was far too unwilling to change his approach. The success or failure of this move, which is a unique combination of boldness in going with some very inexperienced and, in Moore’s case especially, young coaches who also represent a conservative facet in being very familiar to the organization will depend a great deal on just how much of the problem Linehan was the past couple of seasons. The idea that he was too reluctant to change from what he did in 2016, when Dak Prescott and Ezekiel Elliott were new and unfamiliar elements in the league, does have some merit. So the fact the Cowboys were finally willing to make a change, perhaps long overdue, may be enough to move the team in the right direction. The fresh ideas that Moore and Kitna, along with Nussmeier, who seems to also be a part of the newly constituted offensive brain trust, should get the chance to prove themselves. Under the million-watt spotlight that shines on Dallas, the players have plenty of reasons to want to show the world what they can do. Change is here. We are hoping, with good reason to, that it will work.

Carson Wentz had his ups and downs in his first start since last season’s torn ACL Ryan Kelly Jersey Stitched , but the Eagles defense came up big in the red zone several times and the Eagles are 2-1 after a 20-16 home win on Sunday.Andrew Luck had a chance for his first comeback win since returning from a serious shoulder injury of his own, but he fired a pair of incompletions into the end zone before a Derek Barnett sack on fourth down ended a drive on the 4-yard-line. The Colts got the ball back after using their remaining timeouts and forcing a punt, but a Hail Mary fell incomplete.Luck did not throw the Hail Mary as the Colts brought in Jacoby Brissett for what was a 62-yard try for a touchdown. Whether it was because Brissett’s elusiveness gave receivers time to get downfield or because they thought he had a better shot of reaching the end zone will likely be a question for Colts head coach Frank Reich.Luck was just 25-of-40 for 164 yards overall and the Colts were unable to get into the end zone on four second half drives into the red zones. Two of those were set up by Wentz’s turnovers that left the Colts to start their drives in prime scoring position, so there will be plenty to lament about the offense’s performance in Sunday’s loss.Wentz ended the day 25-of-37 for 255 yards, a touchdown, an interception and a forced fumble. The rust was evident at times, but he was able to direct a 17-play, 75-yard drive in the fourth quarter for the go-ahead touchdown. That came on a Wendell Smallwood run and the Eagles were able to cobble together 142 yards on the ground with Jay Ajayi and Darren Sproles out of the lineup. The Eagles will head to Tennessee for Wentz’s second start of the season. They’ll hope for a sharper outing and better health from his supporting cast to go with the same result. In this series, we will look back at Ballard’s past drafts with the Colts and with the Chiefs— where he was the Director of Player Personnel or Director of Football Operations from 2013 to 2016— and try to find common themes or traits that he may look for.We already know Ballard covets athleticism and leadership on and off the field but this series hopes to shed more light on traits he is looking for and help to uncover some of the players he may target in the draft. The focus today will be on what Ballard has called the greatest need heading into the offseason, pass rusher. What types of defensive ends will Ballard look for in the 2019 draft?Past Drafted PlayersDuring Ballard’s tenure in Indianapolis and Kansas City, his organizations have drafted six edge rushers in six drafts. Although pass rusher hasn’t been the core need in each of those years, Ballard has still elected to use four picks from the first two days of the draft. The top pick used to address the position was a first round selection in 2014.We will examine five of the six prospects to find common traits. The sixth player that we will not be including is Mike Catapano, a defensive end taken in the 7th round out of Princeton in 2013. He only lasted four seasons in the NFL and made little to no impact.Dee Ford, DE, Auburn (2014)— 1st Round PickSize: 6’2” 250 poundsMeasureables (Pro Day):40 Time: 4.59 seconds / 10-yard Split: 1.67 seconds / Bench Press: 29 reps / Vertical Jump: 35.5 inches / Broad Jump: 124 inches / 3-Cone: 7.07 secondsCareer Stats:93 total tackles, 27.5 tackles for a loss, 20.5 sacks, and 3 forced fumblesOverview of Pick:Ford was one of the better pass rushers in the draft and solidified a spot in the first round with a strong Senior Bowl performance. Nolan Nawrocki of stated that Ford has “very good acceleration and burst to beat blockers off the ball” along with having “outstanding energy and work ethic.” His major concerns were trouble disengaging from blockers, bend around the corner Youth T.J. Green Jersey , and injury history. Ford was one of the better pass rushers in football last season and is looking to get a huge contract in free agency.Dadi Nicolas, DE, Virginia Tech (2016)— 6th RoundSize:6’3” 235 poundsMeasureables:40 Time: 4.74 seconds / 10-yard Split: 1.70 seconds / Bench Press: 14 reps / Vertical Jump: 41 inches / Broad Jump: 116 inches / 3-Cone: 7.04 secondsCareer Stats:165 total tackles, 35.5 tackles for a loss, 17 sacks, and 3 forced fumblesOverview of Pick:Nicolas was one of the twitchiest, most athletic pass rushers in the draft and he displayed that ability at the Senior Bowl in 2016. Lance Zielein of talked about how he “has lightning quick inside moves, including spin, that can catch slow-footed tackles sleeping” and “plays with desired upfield burst.” His major concerns were lack of strength (especially in run defense) and inability to disengage from blockers. Nicolas was waived by multiple teams and is now a member of the Washington Redskins.Tarell Basham, DE, Ohio (2017)— 3rd RoundSize:6’4” 269 poundsMeasureables:40 Time: 4.70 seconds / 10-yard Split: 1.68 seconds / Bench Press: 15 reps / Vertical Jump: 31.5 inches / Broad Jump: 119 inches Career Stats:152 total tackles, 38.5 tackles for a loss, 27 sacks, and 5 forced fumbles.Overview of Pick:Basham was a productive, athletic small school player who performed well at the Senior Bowl. Lance Zierlein mentioned how Basham “shows flashes of explosive twitch in his attack upfield” and how he “plays with good short area burst to close out running backs and scrambling quarterbacks.” His major concerns coming out were lack of pass rush development and poor bend around the corner. The Basham pick did not work out as he was cut halfway through his sophomore season and claimed by the Jets.Kemoko Turay, DE, Rutgers (2018)— 2nd RoundSize:6’5” 253 poundsMeasureables:40 Time: 4.65 seconds / 10-yard Split: 1.62 seconds / Bench Press: 18 reps / Vertical Jump: 34 inches / Broad Jump: 119 inches / 3-Cone: 6.84 secondsCareer Stats:96 total tackles, 19 tackles for a loss, 14.5 sacks, and 4 pass deflectionsOverview of Pick:Turay was perhaps the most athletic edge rusher in the draft and those traits were on display at the Senior Bowl. Lance Zierlein praised the type of athlete he is by stating that he “plays with good closing burst to the ball”, “moves easily and naturally in space” T.J. Green Jersey Stitched , and is “rangy with good pursuit motor.” His main issues were raw abilities as a pass rusher, struggles as a run defender, and injury concerns. Turay had a productive first half of his rookie season before injuries and playing time issues limited his second half production. Tyquan Lewis, DE, Ohio State (2018)— 2nd RoundSize:6’3” 269 poundsMeasureables (Pro Day):40 Time: 4.69 seconds / 10-yard Split: 1.57 seconds / Bench Press: N/A / Vertical Jump: 35.5 inches / Broad Jump: 127 inches / 3-Cone: 7.2 secondsCareer Stats:112 total tackles, 37 tackles for a loss, 23.5 sacks, and 5 forced fumblesOverview of Pick:Lewis was one of the most athletic defensive linemen in the draft and he destroyed the Senior Bowl. Lance Zierlein stated that Lewis has “knee bend (that) helps him flatten to the quarterback sharply once he gets around the edge” and “plays with good hand strength and quickness.” The main issues with his game were that he was not a “force against the run” and he was a bit inconsistent with his rushes on a play to play basis. He played very well in limited snaps in his rookie season with the Colts.Common TraitsHere are the common traits that can help us build a rough mold of what Ballard might look for in rookie defensive ends:Senior edge rusher— preferably players who played in the Senior BowlExcellent burst and explosion— every player had a 10 yard split under 1.7 secondsStrengths: Overall athleticism, great tackling, and burst Weaknesses: Run defense, bend, and raw pass rush move setMotor and tenacity— each player had a knack for playing until the whistleBonus-> Length as a rusher2019 Draft Players Who Fit1.) Charles Omenihu, DE, TexasSize:6’6” 275 poundsCareer Stats:115 total tackles, 30 tackles for a loss, 16.5 sacks, and 4 forced fumblesWhy He Fits:If any player fits the mold that Ballard likes in his defensive ends, its Charles Omenihu. Mostly a sub-rusher for Texas, Omenihu was very disruptive with a quick burst off of the line and a lengthy frame. He was a standout at the Senior Bowl where he put together a couple good practices. Omenihu also excels at tackling and has a relentless motor. His weaknesses are his lack of bend on the edge and inconsistent run defense. 2.) Montez Sweat, DE, Mississippi StateSize:6’6” 252 poundsCareer Stats:105 total tackles Youth Le'Raven Clark Jersey , 30.5 tackles for a loss, 23.5 sacks, and 1 forced fumbleWhy He Fits:If Ballard decides to address defensive end in the first round, Sweat would be an excellent fit for what he looks for. The talk of the week at the Senior Bowl, Sweat was insanely hard to block due to his large frame and relentless play style. His other strengths include an excellent burst off of the line of scrimmage and a motor that never runs out. He is also pretty stout as a run defender for a player with his slimmer frame. His biggest weaknesses are his lack of bend around the corner and his occasional struggle to shed blocks. 3.) Chase Winovich, DE, MichiganSize:6’3” 255 poundsCareer Stats:166 total tackles, 43 tackles for a loss, 18.5 sacks, and 3 forced fumblesWhy He Fits:This may seem like an odd fit but I think Winovich makes a lot of sense with what Ballard likes in his players. Winovich was slated to appear in the Senior Bowl but had to withdraw due to an injury suffered in Michigan’s bowl game. His has strengths at the point of attack, above average athleticism, and relentless motor in both run and pass defense. His weaknesses are struggles with bend and shedding blocks. He was a two time Academic All-Big Ten honoree, recipient of team MVP honors in 2018, and was awarded his team’s first ever “Blue Collar Award.” Honorable Mentions:Jaylon Ferguson (LA Tech), Joe Jackson (Miami), Shareef Miller (Penn State)ConclusionWith GM Chris Ballard’s track record for drafting edge players, these prospects stand out as possible targets in the draft. He likes athletic players with great burstwho are a bit unrefined as pass rushers. He places a heavy emphasis on motor and effort while not worrying as much about bend or run defense. It is important to note that this analysis could be entirely wrong as it relies heavily on his time in Kansas City. It is entirely possible that Ballard disagreed with much of the decisions made during his time with the Chiefs’ organization. Ballard could take a bendy edge rusher in round one. Who knows? However, this series should give some kind of insight into who Chris Ballard may want to target based on his past.

PITTSBURGH (AP) — Mike Tomlin’s heart was heavy when he went to work on Sunday morning. The Steelers coach wasn’t alone. All of Pittsburgh felt broken after 11 innocent people were killed in a shooting at a synagogue that Tomlin estimated is “800 yards” from his home. But true to its steely reputation Youth Joe Schobert Jersey , the city — and the Steelers — stayed strong.“I’m a member of the Squirrel Hill community personally,” Tomlin said after Pittsburgh’s 33-18 win over the Cleveland Browns on Sunday. “Words cannot express how we feel as members of the community. I’m not going to make this about me or about us. We’re just glad we are here to serve our community if we can in some small way.”Tomlin had addressed his players about the shooting on Saturday night, hours after a gunman walked into the Tree of Life Synagogue during services and killed eight men and three women ranging in age from 54 to 97. The dead included Cecil and David Rosenthal, whose sister, Michele, is the Steelers’ former community relations director. The deaths hit home for a team as connected to its fan base as any in the NFL.Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger said he was overcome with emotion on his drive to Heinz Field, during pregame warmups and when the stadium observed a moment of silence before kickoff.“It was crazy tough and especially of Michele and the closeness that we have with her,” said Roethlisberger, who threw a pair of touchdown passes to Antonio Brown. “Coach always talked about when you step inside the white lines everything else has to kind of go away, but sometimes it’s easier said than done. I told the guys during the post-team prayer, we’re thankful for a victory, but we also understand there are bigger things, there is life.“I am glad we can give people maybe three hours of a break of not thinking about it all the time. That is what sports does sometimes — it helps you to heal. It’s over, people are going to enjoy this, but reality still sets in for a lot of people.”James Conner rushed for 146 yards and two touchdowns for the Steelers (4-2-1), who looked so vulnerable earlier this season when they tied Cleveland in the opener. But with Conner making Le’Veon Bell’s messy contract holdout less impactful every game behind an offensive line backing up praise about Conner Cheap Joel Bitonio Youth Jersey , the Steelers appear to be the class of the AFC North again. For Conner, who played college ball at Pitt and won his own battled with cancer, Sunday’s win went deeper than just being the 15th in a row at Heinz Field over the rival Browns.“Today was much bigger than a game of football,” said Conner, who scored on runs of 12 and 22 yards. “Our city took a hit, and our hearts are with all of the victims and their families.”ROAD CREWThe Browns lost their 25th straight road game, 20th in a row under embattled coach Hue Jackson. While Jackson’s days appear numbered, there are also rumblings about offensive coordinator Todd Haley’s future.Jackson caused an uproar last week following a loss at Tampa Bay when he pledged to “dive” in and help Cleveland’s struggling offense. Well, the Browns were still plagued by many of the same problems and Jackson continues to insist he and Haley are not at odds.Still, there’s drama.“There’s nothing wrong with my relationship with Haley,” Jackson said. “I said what I said last week, and obviously, it had legs, but I never said I wanted to take away play calling. I said I wanted to help. That’s it. The only thing that’s going on is we need to get better. We need to coach better.”GROWING PAINSBrowns rookie quarterback Baker Mayfield won’t forget his introduction to the Steelers.Mayfield threw two touchdown passes — the second with 6 seconds left — and had some nice moments in his fifth career start. But he was under pressure all day, took some hard shots, and it seems as if the Browns aren’t doing enough to cater the offense to his strengths.Mayfield looked beaten as he left the podium and slowly headed toward the bus for the 2 ½-hour bus ride back to Ohio. He joined a long list of Browns QBs to take their lumps in Pittsburgh.“I’ve seen better days Cleveland Browns Joel Bitonio Jersey ,” said Mayfield, who finished 22 of 36 for 180 yards. “But that’s the nature of playing a good team. They’re physical.”DOWNTOWN BROWNBrown finished with six catches for 74 yards, just another day at the office for arguably the game’s best receiver. Brown has caught a TD pass in five straight games and he and Roethlisberger have connected on 67 career TDs, tying them with Peyton Manning and Reggie Wayne for the seventh most by a QB-WR tandem in league history.Roethlisberger was unaware the Steelers are 8-0 when Brown has a completion of 40 yards or more.“Really,” Big Ben said. “Let’s throw it deep every single play and see what happens.”Cleveland Browns 53-Man Roster Projection (Final Version) It is time for my final 53-man roster projection for the Cleveland Browns. General Manager John Dorsey will have to trim the roster from 86 players to 53 players by 4:00 PM ET on Saturday, September 1st. This edition is based on the weeks of training camp reports, performances from the four preseason games, and my general instincts..dbn {background: #fff;width: 600px;padding: 2px;font-size: 12px;color: #FFFFFF;}tr:first-child td {font-weight: bold;TEXT-ALIGN: center; BACKGROUND: #DF6108; COLOR: white; VERTICAL-ALIGN: bottom;}td {border: 1px solid #000;padding-left: 2px;}tr:nth-child(even) {background: #330000;color: white;}tr:nth-child(even) td {color: white;}tr:nth-child(odd) {background: #FFDB9F;color: black;}tr td:first-child {text-align:center;font-weight:bold;}The following players would not count toward the 53-man roster:Injured Reserve: WR Ricardo Louis, CB Howard WilsonGeneral Roster Projection NotesSince the first edition of my list, I removed the following four players from my 53-man roster projection:WR Corey ColemanDL Trenton ThompsonLB Mychal KendricksS Simeon ThomasSince the second edition of my list, I added the following four players to my 53-man roster projection:WR Rashard HigginsWR Damion RatleyDL Nate OrchardLB Justin CurrieI will explain each of the roster decisions in the positional bullet points below.Quarterback: As much as I like Brogan Roback for being funny, the team doesn’t need four quarterbacks, even on the practice squad.Running Back: It was a solid final preseason game for Matthew Dayes, but reps will already be hard to divide between the top three backs.Wide Receiver: One of the polarizing decisions I had to make was whether to keep Jeff Janis or not. He has been hurt or done nothing all preseason, but I have to keep telling myself that Cleveland signed him for a niche reason (gunner), and he will still likely be counted on to fulfill that. Whether rookie Damion Ratley makes the roster is up for debate too — I squeeze him on over TE Devon Cajuste. Rashard Higgins was on my cut list before camp Cleveland Browns Sione Takitaki Jersey , but he’s definitely earned a roster spot with a great camp. What a difference from a year ago.Tight End: People have wondered whether Seth DeValve’s roster spot is in jeopardy. I just don’t see how the team could cut an expected contributor because he was hurt during camp. DeValve has good hands and can stretch the field better than Cajuste can. I was pulling for Cajuste due to his Hard Knocks story, but that drop in the final preseason game was costly.Offensive Line: People are intrigued by what Desmond Harrison can offer as a backup tackle, but I don’t think he’s ready for a 53-man roster spot. The practice squad is the right spot for him to develop. I think the team would trade Shon Coleman if there was an interest in him, but don’t think they are deep enough at tackle to just outright cut him. Greg Robinson had a decent preseason if the club wants to keep him as insurance.Defensive Line: The defensive line position is all over the place due to Trevon Coley’s health. I don’t think veteran Chris Smith will be cut, but he hasn’t been seeing early-game reps. Rookie third-rounder Chad Thomas has had an uneventful camp, but shouldn’t be at risk of being cut. I said Carl Nassib vs. Nate Orchard was a battle I felt would be a “thing” early in camp, and Hard Knocks has played that out too. I was sticking with Nassib over Orchard, but then Orchard had an awesome pick six in the final preseason game. Ugh. As awesome as that one play is, I just don’t know if the staff will feel he is productive enough against starting-level talent. I found a last-second spot for him by taking rookie S Simeon Thomas off the main roster.Linebacker: The sudden departure of Mychal Kendricks definitely threw a wrench in the once-fruitful linebacker depth, and Genard Avery’s injury hurts matters too. James Burgess’ roster spot should be locked in more, but now I have Justin Currie making the final roster too (but he will probably be gone after waiver moves are made).Cornerback: Cleveland stockpiled on cornerbacks this offseason, and I’ve decided to keep all of them. T.J. Carrie and E.J. Gaines were supposed to battle it out for the other starting corner job, but faded from competition quickly. Still, I think Gregg Williams hated the lack of depth at the position last year and will want that whole room of guys to work with. Safety: The safety room is a bit thin after the first three, so I’m shifting CB Briean Boddy-Calhoun over there to fill out a number. I also think we could see Jabrill Peppers and Derrick Kindred on the field a lot together, helping alleviate some of the number issues at linebacker at times.Special Teams: The kicker competition ended early Womens Sione Takitaki 2019 Jersey , with Ross Martin being cut before the final preseason game (but I was keeping Zane Gonzalez anyway). I don’t think Justin Vogel will unseat veteran Britton Colquitt. The single asterisks on the cut side represent my projected practice squad, which includes RB Matthew Dayes, WR Derrick Willies, OT Desmond Harrison, DL Daniel Ekuale, DL Zaycoven Henderson, LB B.J. Bello, LB Jermaine Grace, S Simeon Thomas, CB Jeremiah McKinnon, CB Denzel Rice, and DB Tigie Sankoh.Note: I reserve the right to tweak my 53-man projection by noon on Friday. Final roster cuts are due Saturday by 4 PM ET.Feel free to share your roster projections here, or some changes you would make to mine.

This year Brees is poised to break his own record.Brees has completed 74.9 percent of his passes this year, meaning that unless he has two very ugly games in the final two games of the season Marshon Lattimore Jersey White , he will break his own record. So far this season, Brees’s lowest completion percentage in any game came in Week Four against the Giants, when he completed 18 of 32 passes. If Brees were to match that season-low performance in each of his next two games, and go 36-for-64 for the rest of the season, he’d have a single-season completion percentage of 72.6 percent. So even if Brees matches his worst outing of the season for two weeks in a row, he’ll finish ahead of his record-setting season last year.Brees has led the NFL in completion percentage five times in his NFL career , and he’s a near-lock to do it again this year, as his closest competitor, Kirk Cousins, is at 70.5 percent and almost assuredly won’t be able to catch Brees. The single-season record belongs to Brees now, and an even higher single-season record will belong to Brees in eight days.
